autumn day

Greetings from Pastor Kiessling

November 2015

A blessed Thanksgiving to all.  We show our Thanksgiving by our ThanksLiving! As God’s people we have so much to be thankful for.  I thank God for all of you.  May God bless you as you serve Him.  Maxine and I wish you a happy Thanksgiving Day celebration.

How about a few smiles:

  1. The small print at the bottom of an order of worship bulletin was not encouraging.

“Those who must heave before the sermon is over are encouraged to do so quietly so as not to disturb the worship of others.”

  1. The wedding ceremony was well-planned, well-rehearsed, and proceeded smoothly – until the wedding vows, that is. In his best ministerial tone, the preacher asked, “Do you, Sue, take Tom to be your lawfully wedded husband?  Will you love Tom, and cherish him as your husband so long as you both shall live?”

There was a long pause.  The bride finally answered: “No, as a matter of fact I won’t!”

It appeared to be one of those nightmarish situations any pastor would dread.  “Have you changed your mind?” whispered the pastor. “Not at all,” responded the bride.  “The groom’s name is John, not Tom!”

  1. The advertisement in a denominational newsletter was for the sale of used church furniture. One line read:

“Small chairs for sale for children with straw seats.”

Blessings!  Pastor Rich
