Dear St. Paul Lutheran School Staff,

As the newly appointed Principal here at St. Paul LutheranSchool, it is my pleasure and honor to join you in continuing the rich history of academic excellence and Christian based education that this school has been known for in the Sherwood Community for so many years.  I am truly honored to be appointed to this position, and look forward to working with the dedicated staff to provide the best possible educational program for our students, and help the school continue to expand. I have had the pleasure of working at St. Paul as the third-fifth grade teacher for the past three years, and during that time I have watched the school change and grow. It is very exciting to see the dedication and love for Christian education that the staff brings to the school every day.

Before my time at St. Paul I was a fifth grade teacher in the Oregon City School District, and a substitute teacher for the HillsboroSchool District, as well as, St. Mary’s Catholic School. I also had the pleasure of teaching preschool at Trinity Lutheran Preschool.  I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Education at University of North Florida, and a Master’s Degree from ConcordiaUniversity in Portland, with a Reading Specialty License, and also an Administrators License.  My husband and I have three beautiful children that keep us “on the go.” When we have some down time together, we enjoy spending our summers camping and exploring the beautiful state of Oregon.

My goal as your Principal is to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment to provide the best possible academic instruction to meet the needs of each student to the best of our ability.  The educational program must be academically challenging, engage each student by linking the curriculum to previous knowledge and experience, and also be exciting to promote further learning and the exploration of new ideas.  While I believe that academics is a very important part of education, I also believe that teaching the love of Christ with morals and values are just as important in developing the “whole” child.  I am excited that we have the opportunity here at St. Paul to touch the lives of many children and teach them about the love of Jesus.

Through a close partnership with staff members and parents at St. Paul Lutheran School, I am confident that we can make our school a place where our students can continue to learn and grow academically and spiritually.  Please feel free to stop in and say hello, as my door is always open.  I would like to wish you a terrific upcoming school year. If there is anything I can assist you with, please feel free to let me know.

Respectfully,

Shannon Freudenthal

Principal
