Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.” Matthew 19:14

February is a month filled with Valentines and parties. We also celebrated our 100th day of school on Wednesday February 20th. That day was filled with fun activities such as painting a rainbow (100 dots) using a marshmallow, finding and gluing 100 smiles on a paper, stacking and building with 100 plastic cups, putting together 100 piece puzzles, and making a 100 link chain.

Kindergarten through fifth also sang at Senior Saints luncheon Feb. 15th.

The kindergarteners have been working on counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. They are also learning about even and odd.

The first and second graders were experimenting with magnets. They learned how scientists come up with a hypothesis and then test it. They had fun exploring what things in the room were magnetic.

Third, fourth, and fifth graders did some book reports. They took their state tests at the end of February. They also went to see the Children’s play “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”.

In Art Lit this month the kindergarten through fifth grade learned about MC Escher. In Art Lit we have a volunteer parent who comes in and teaches the children about an artist and show slides of their work. Then the children do some type of art project based on that artist. It exposes them to different artists and techniques. The children really enjoy this program.

We are getting ready to celebrate Dr. Seuss day on March 1st, with, of course, green eggs and ham. Preschool through fifth will come join us at breakfast – if they dare.
